The 747-400 in Kalitta service is assumed to operate the GE CF6-80C2 (CF6-80C2B1F variant for the -400). It is a high-bypass, two-shaft turbofan rated at ≈ 57,900 lbf takeoff thrust. The N1 fan is driven by the LPT; the N2 core is driven by the HPT. The Electronic Engine Control (EEC) is full-authority on this engine variant.

Engine Start Sequence
- Start switch — GND (or AUTO)
- N2 rotation begins (starter)
- At ≈ 25% N2, fuel control — RUN; ignition + fuel
- Lightoff: EGT rises; N1 and N2 accelerate
- Starter cutout at ≈ 50% N2 (verify)
- Stabilize at idle
CAUTION — Hung Start / Hot Start
If EGT approaches limit or rotation fails to accelerate: Fuel — CUTOFF immediately. Motor engine to cool.
